So, my computer has been acting fine for the first couple of months, but just recently it has been crashing. It says there needs to be a media presence and a message of IPv4 and IPv6 appear. I've already tried trouble shooting but it still hasn't worked. I've also tried resetting to factory settings but it has still been crashing.

Here is the product number and name:

Product name: 23-g209

Product number: J4W20AA#ABL

Hi! I also had this problem. Its an easy fix! In Task Manager, just right click and end task. It will not harm your machine and it will still grab any updates you need. For some reason it seems like the software gets hung up and eats up the CPU.

Interestingly, after I ended the task in the manager, its doing it less, but I always check it after rebooting the computer, just in case! Hope this helps!

Help! All files and pictures disappeared. Programs empty

My 3 1/2 year old PC has been really slow last couple of days. It actually hung online last night and i had to physically shut it down. I turned it on just now and the screen said  Welcome to HP like it was a brand new computer. The home page is not the usual one.  I clicked on Chrome and the screen pops up Welcometo Chrome and how to set up. Ditto for Mozilla Firefox.  Then I go to files and they are empty. Documents and Pictures. gone. Family tree maker is there but it gives me the welcome screen too. i went to Factory Image and it says it was last modified in 2013 - day and year of purchase. It appears empty. It's like my computer has been wiped.  I backed up about a month or so ago, and I was actually going to back up last night but when it hung up, I put it off. I thought that the Factory Image was a back up.  I have Norton antivirus.

What can I do to recover my files? Any suggestions? Do I have a virus? or what happened? Can I fix this myself? Can a computer shop recover files? I'm typing this  on my work laptop. Because I'm not sure about using the computer.

Thank you all so much.

Connect the USB stick, and turn the computer on.

What options do you have, for each 'Fnn' key?

Do you have a "smart-phone" with a built-in camera?

If so, take a picture of what you see, and include that image in your reply.

Choose the one that allows you to enter "BIOS SETUP" (or whatever it is called).

Is there a section for "BOOT", i.e., to choose which devices (or device-groups) are to be checked for being bootable, and in what order those devices are to be checked?

Again, snap another picture.

Is there a section for "Disk Drive Group"?

Is there more than one "member" in that "group".

Hopefully, there will be one line for the USB stick, and one line for the disk-drive.

Correct?

Again, snap another picture.

Change the order to put the USB memory-stick "ahead" of the disk-drive.

Return to the previous menu.

Put the "boot from disk-drive group" ahead of the "boot-from-optical-devices" group.

Again, snap another picture.

Save & exit from BIOS SETUP.

Im do not have a smart phone.

Using a program "Tweaking.com", I was able to figure a way to set up USB boot.

Thanx

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

These days, the most common hacking of PCs is done using "ransomware" where the attacker encrypts your files and extorts your for money to have them decrypted.  So, it is highly unlikely that you got hacked.

From your description, more likely, your hard drive is failing -- as that would cause a serious slowdown in the PC, and since system files and data files might then be unreadable, what you are seeing now would be the result.

As you continue to use the drive, you're overwriting the files and folders that got erased. The more you use it, the less likely you'll be able to recover anything on it

Your best bet for recovering data now is to do the following:
1) Remove the hard drive from the PC
2) Purchase a USB-to-Hard Driver adapter kit
3) Download and install this utility on a working PC: http://www.majorgeeks.com/news/story/recover_data_in_3_steps_with_minitool_power_data_recovery_free_edition.html
4) Connect the old drive to the working PC
5) Run the data recovery utility to see what can be retrieved from the old drive.

If that tools does not find what you need, an alternative is Recuva: http://www.piriform.com/recuva

And, if that does not work well, the best tool out there is this one, but only the trial version is free: http://www.file-recovery.com/

Good Luck

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

From your description, sounds like the original owner replaced the original OS with a version that is absent the HP software that comes preinstalled.

Don't know what else they removed, as well.

What you need to do is restore your PC to its original condition using HP Recovery Media -- which you can order from this page:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-Recline-27-k300-TouchSmart-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series/7161699/model/7269299

There was a similar thread for a Stream notebook here with no resolution posted.

Press Esc at power up and then F2 to run the diagnostics menu and there should be a component test for the battery that you can run.

I have this same problem and changed the boot order. The hard drive option was "USB Hard Drive". So that's what I selected. The PC still won't start and gives the same PXE4 error?

I'm getting a Start PXE over IPV4 error when trying to start my PC.

As stated above I'm getting this error. I went into BIOS and selected USB Hard Drive under boot order and I'm still getting the same error.

Problem Palm m500 Hotsync with Windows 10 - 64 bit

I have a couple of old, but ever so useful, Palm m500/m505  PDAs,  which I could hot-sync with my old PC running on Windows XP.  Now I have up-graded to PC with Windows 10 - 64 bit and am at my wit's end trying to hot sync my PDA data on to my PC Palm Desktop.

I tried hot-syncing by installing Palm Desktop 4.1.4. and Palm 6.2.  Have both on my PC.  No success in hot-syncing.

After reading up on the various sort of related topics on your esteemed Forum, did the following :

Also downloaded Palm Hotsync Setup.

And DVR_WINX64_USB_GN4-GN5_20110322.  But, to be honest, don't know how to up-date this I am guessing device driver program.

As I am of the older generation, (a senior citizen), could an expert give me step-by-step  simple instructions on how to resolve my problem.  My Palm m500 PDA has too many contacts to manually transfer.

Also can I convert PDA contacts to Outlook Address Book and then hot-sync with Palm m500 series PDA ?

Waiting anxiously for help and guidance ........

Myra

I must say ,Thanks again HP for designing yet another feature horrendously. I've been trying to remove this program for over four hours.

WHO IS WORKING AT HP?!?! ARE THEY IDIOTS?!

who makes a program that cannot be removed and prevents you from resetting your own pc, your own property.

Long story short i've thrown everything i can at this and it's still got my computer locked up. I've chnaged system services, done force uninstalls , scouted out files to delete and now i'm trying to learn registry settings in order to get this removed. Ultimately it looks as though i'll have to buy a m.2 ssd to usb adapter, pull the hard drive out of the computer, format it using a different computer then reinstall the hard drive and windows using a backup drive...... Daunting and it's going to cost me money for HP's programming issue

HP i vow to never buy another one of your products again , especially the ones that almost cost two thousand dollars ( hp 1012 elite g1 - DO NOT BUY). Your company provides terrible support for your products, and with issues as design flawed as this program is, your software engineers should be ashamed. Seriously No option provided for removal?!?! why dont you just give your consumers the middle finger instead.

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out Smiley Happy

As I understand you need a bios file as your motherboard isn't working due to the same,

Don't worry as I have a few steps that should help fix this concern:

Depending on which product you have, select the below link and attempt a BIOS recovery:

Attempt a BIOS recovery > All in one
Attempt a BIOS recovery> Notebooks

Attempt a BIOS recovery> desktops

If the issue persists, you may use the HP Parts Store to order a replacement motherboard,

Or contact HP for further assistance related to hardware replacements

Let me know how that pans out,
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.
