See: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp79501-80000/sp79915.html

for one '.iso' file that contains all the required device-drivers for Windows 7 for your HP Z40 Tower Workstation.

Download this '.iso' file, and burn it to a DVD-R.

Install Windows 7 from any "retail" Windows 7 DVD, and then install all the device-drivers from your DVD-R.

It seems like it trying to install something that already is installed, and thus tries to "rollback" the current installation.

Look at your list of Installed Programs, for the programs tagged as being from HP, and "uninstall", to remove the service, so that the install won't hit that "road-block".

The monitor gets its power from the AC cord, and should get video signals from the computer.

> The tower power light comes on and stays on, but the monitor says: No signal and goes to sleep after 5 seconds.

When you turn the tower on, do you hear fans start to spin, and make noise?

Does it try to spin the media inside the CD/DVD drive?

If you press the button to open/close the CD/DVD drive-tray, does it work, i.e., does it get power?

If there a lamp on the front that lights-up when the disk-drive is being accessed?  Anything from that lamp?

Any "beep" sounds, e.g., "four-beeps-pause" that repeats?

> All cables are connected and tight.

Ideas:

1. Dead motherboard

2. Dying power-supply (it should output several different voltages; one of those voltages could not be working)

3. Dead video-adapter is not sending any video-output to the monitor.

>  I fed a signal from my laptop to the monitor and it worked perfectly.

This proves that the monitor is working OK (receiving AC power and video signals).

It's time to find a "technophile" friend to trouble-shoot, or to take the tower to a qualified computer technician.

I guess I could wipe the hard drive and start over, or get another hard drive. My question is that I would have to use an

HP setup disk for the computer to work, correct?? If I used a typical microsoft disk, the computer would not work?

The setup disk has to be HP?

Cheers and thanks guys.

Re: Lost power to house. When restarted computer, CPU fan is very loud

>  lost power to house from storm ..

When you power-on a computer, it typically runs the fan at full-speed (with much noise) for a few seconds, until the motherboard determines that the computer is not "overheating".  Then, the motherboard slows-down the speed of the fan to a lower level, because all that fanning is not required.  This works for a PROPERLY FUNCTIONING motherboard.

My guess is that the power "bump" damaged the power-supply and/or the motherboard, and so it never tells the fan to slow down.

It's time to take the computer to a qualified technician for trouble-shooting, and/or part-swapping.

The only "good" news is that it is likely that your disk-drive is intact, and still holds all your Personal Files.

You're welcome.

If the existing hard drive is good then the same hard drive can be used to install the operating system. We recommend you to use the recovery disks (Setup disks) supplied by HP to install the operating system on your computer. But WinXP is not longer available and therefore we do not have the recovery media available for it. That said, we cannot even provide you another computer's setup copy because it will not work on your computer.

As rightly suggested by my colleague (@Riddle_Decipher), you may check with Microsoft and get any other version of Windows still supported by them. AT the same time we cannot guarantee of the retail copy will get installed. The newer operating systems need a lot better hardware configuration. So please check the minimum system requirements before buying a retail copy.

Hope this answers your question. Cheers!

Re: my computer wont power upits a Pavilion 570-p050na Intel® Core™ i5, 8Gb RAM DDR4, 1Tb Hard Drive

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. Smiley Happy I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP Pavilion 570-p050na PC. I read that the PC does not power on.

I would like to know the following information to assist you better:

  • Did any hardware changes take place on the PC?
  • Do you see any blinking lights or get beep sounds from the PC?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Disconnect all cables from the PC. Also, disconnect the power cable.
  • Press and hold the power button of the PC for 10 seconds and then release it.
  • Reconnect only the keyboard, mouse and the monitor and the power cable.
  • Power on the PC.

If the issue persists then I suggest you to perform the steps mentioned in this HP article.

I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know the outcome. Cheers! Smiley Happy

Re: RecoveryMgr.exe-Application error

I got the error after the blue hp symbol appears and the dotted circle screen goes off and on intermittently after 30 to 45 minutes each time that I try. I never get to see any other screen and only the exception comment appears. The DST comment occurs all the time whether I do the quick or the extensive check. Question, does the BOOTREC comments can be done on the bios or does it have to be through the unacessible system recovery program? Furthermore, your click here for instructions link don't work. Also, I don't have access the hp diagnostics tool i only have access to the diagnostic tools from the Bios which has the memory and the hard drive checks. I wonder if hp sent me a defective recovery kit usb drive. If so, I wasted $52.00

If you would like to try some free and easy software to help you solve the issue besides Windows utility, you can apply AOMEI Backupper to create a system image with three steps.  Hope this helpful.

So I went to uninstall the HP Support Solutions Framwork (sence that was the program it was talking about updating in the command promt), And it said it can't do it because Hp Support Asstant needs the HP Support Solutions Framwork.  Should I uninstall HP Support Assistaint as well?  I dont want to loose anything important.

Thanks

Re: Windows 7 - UEFI and TPM 2.0

We are using W7 x64 Enterprise

Under TPM Administration, it says "The TPM is on and ownership has not been taken".

A password is set in the BIOS and TPM is set to Available, TPM State is Checked

Any ideas?

Re: Windows 7 - UEFI and TPM 2.0

Progress, I tried clearing the TPM in the BIOS. Rebooted, then when I logged in I got a TPM error. Shortly after it started bitlocking? This is a brand new PC and was never bitlocked, so not sure how clearing TPM would of helped but it did.

Any ideas why this worked?
