HP Simplesave md1000h restoring files - Windows 10

I have a HP Simplesave md1000h that I have hooked up to a new Acer Laptop running Windows 10.  I cannot get the Simplesave device to restore files to this computer.  The Simplesave screen opens but when I attempt to initiate the restore nothing happens.

I have read that this is a common issue associated with Windows 10.  I was wondering if anyone could direct me on what steps I need to take in order to be able to solve this issue and access the files on the Simplesave device.

 Purchased refurbished online, came with windows 10 preinstalled.   Activated windows 10 with Microsoft.   After using for one hour did not like and I am now past 30-day window to rollback.  Box had Vista home basic OEMAct from HP.  

 

Seller sending USB with Win 7 ( which is what I thought it had originally because under back up and restore it said go back to Windows 7, it did not say go back to Vista ).  

 

Seller mentioned I would have to buy new license. 

 

Did system reset thinking it would would go back to Vista as everything I read said “factory condition.”  Still have Win 10 after reset.

 

 I do understand Microsoft no longer supports Win 7. However I still would like to know if I can purchase a license and approximately what one costs.

Hi:

 

Microsoft no longer sells W7.

 

You may be able to still find new, sealed full W7 installation media with a product key on Amazon or eBay.

 

You need an OEM or full retail version, not the upgrade.

I saw some on eBay, unopened with product key.  Just need to be sure cd for 64-bit system, correct?

 

The plot thickens.  I bought the refurb because old sff would not boot (4 short beeps and red flashing led).  It was painfully slow and I’m not a tech genius so why went with refurb.  The drive in the sff that won’t boot has Win 7 pro OA.  Any way that could be utilized to replace the Win 10 on refurb?

Hi:

 

The 4 beeps, red flashing light normally means you have to replace the power supply. 

 

The beep code troubleshooting steps you can find in the Troubleshooting Guide at the link below, Appendix A, starting on page 57.

Before you buy any OS...if you have a W7 drive from the non working 6000 Pro SFF, that should work in the refurbed 6000 Pro SFF.

 

So try that first.

 

Any reason you don't want W10?

 

I have the 8000 Elite, which is the slightly upscale model of the 6000 Pro and it runs W10 just fine.

 

You would want to add a graphics card that has better support for W10 than the onboard Intel graphics, such as the AMD Radeon HD 6540 low profile.

 

Replacement software...yes, you want W7 x64.

 

No W7 OS of any kind is available for purchase from Microsoft anymore.

IMO Win 10 is too busy.  My main use is a workstation.  Don’t need Edge.  Don’t need or want Cortana.  I like simple.  Less is more.  

 

I will definitely try the old drive.  Thanks again.

My question: "Can the x4000b device remember multiple paired devices?"

Finding a solution to a simple question is really, really hard on hp.com.

- Product specifications, almost none.

- Manual? Generic Bluetooth connection procedure.

- Try to contact HP:

- Entered SN, entered PN, it found that it's a x4000b then request me to contact HP. That's what I'm trying to do! This is useless!

 

So I went on the forums and I look for x4000b and find product related topics all over the place, but not what I need to know. So, I want to make my own topic. I need to choose a category. There is no category. There is "Desktop", "Laptop", "Mobile" etc... where should I post? I want to connect it to Laptop at work and Desktop at home without re-pairing. Why are there no forums for the multitude of accessories and perhiperals that HP makes?

 

But hey, there's always room for improvement, so I dropped this here. If anyone can point me in the right direction, that would be cool. If not, that's cool too, I'll figure it out somehow :)

i just received my new PC  and i can't open the settings app. I am not sure why, it was working earlier today. i am not very computer literate so hope it is something i can understand so i can fix

Based on your reply, I'm assuming you've worked past this issue, by checking the wifi/wireless settings.. If the issue persiste, locate the system services then enable or disable anything rlevant to wifi or wireless. My persoanl prefeance is that I' disable the wifi, wireless & bluetooth on my computer as I do not use ot want any outside conntcections. However, I stillhave the gateway set up for wifi/wireless as the wife needs this to operate her tablet.

i tried what you said but it doesn't help. it still does the same thing it. The entire settings app does not remain open, so i am not able to change any setting on my computer :(

My desktop isn't working nor unable use the desktop due to Windows 10 October 2018 Update (1809).

 

Anyone else have the same issue?

 

Re-boot of desktop incompleted, displaying keyboard language selection screen but unable to use keyboard or mouse to make the selections.

Two HP DL360 Gen9's, both running windows server2016 acting as terminal servers.

both hosting around 50/60+ HP T620 and T630 thin clients, and external connections in to hosted desktops. 

 

 

both server's crashed with an "IPeakLWF" Driver IRQ Not Equal To or something, and core dumped after the autumn update, entering a constant blue screen reboot cycle.

 

the entire office was out of action for a couple of hours while fortunatley i still have iLO access, to be able to get in -between- reboots and figure out what was going on. removed HP Velocity, servers resumed stable operation.

 

tested that afternoon with my Win10 Surface Pro. everything look fine remoting in with a thin client, then on getting home, opened it up to find my surface in a reboot cycle. again. the IPeakLWF driver blue screen, core dump. had to work quick to remove HP velocity server from my surface, but once that was done, it started behaving normally again.

 

DO NOT, install/run/enable HP Velocity on anything windows10/server2016 based with the current set of windows updates

HP Printer Assistant does not show print or scan options.

When I open the printer assistant I don't get any options to print or scan any documents. I run the "scan doctor", I uninstalled and installed the drivers several timesCaptureHP.JPG
