There must be some workaround for this problem if updates will not install. At this point I just quit trying to install it until a solution is brought fwd. John

Did you computer still start normally after that? If not you should try this: HP Desktop PCs - Recovering the BIOS.

It is possibly a false alert. It does sometimes occur. You can try removing the Hp Support Assistant, then restarting your computer and then try installing the HP Support Assistant once more. Also take a look through this document. HP PCs - Troubleshooting HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8)

Hp Envy defaulting to wrong drive
Hi
I have recently bought the above desktop which came with a 1.8tb hard drive. All the pre-installed apps and system are on the C drive (which it is reporting as having a capacity of only 117gb). The D drive is the 1.8tb drive and all it has are the standard user folders (music, pictures, etc.), which were already there when the pc arrived and are all empty.
I didn't realise this when I first started reinstalling everything on the new PC. It was only when it warned me that the C drive is nearly full that I realised something wasn't right.
On my previous HP, I'm pretty sure the D drive was the recovery drive and C was the main drive for apps and files.
I don't understand why it is installing everything on the smaller drive and it would appear it was set up to do this out of the box.
Is there any way that I can reverse this situation, or move everything onto the D drive?
Regards
Terry

Please help, Computer freezes randomly while running any program, from Games to Solidworks
Hello everyone,
I need help figuring out what is wrong with my brand new HP Envy 750se. The problem is, when i launch a game, such as CS:GO or other programs like SolidWorks, and have them running for 15 minute-2 hours it freezes completly
- Cursor stops moving/Keyboard unresponsive
- Screen locks/sometimes becomes pixilated
- Audio either stutters or still works fine/Skype call still works and i am able to still speak.
- Only way to get out of it is by manually pressing the off button or unplugging the tower
My specs are:
- Core i7-6700 3.4Hz Quad-Core Skylake CPU
- 16GB Memory
- 6GB Nvidia GeForce GTX980ti
- 2TB Hard Drive
I've done a quick diagnostic on the computer, everything passed. I also just recently did a full factory reset, making it brand new and it still does the same exact thing.
Please help me!

I got my post deleted because its a duplicate? But i can't find any info in forums. I have bios A.08 dated November 2015, but the only bios shown on HP's site is a.07 for 2b4b and its actually newer. I need to see if there is a bios update and update it to get improved support for Samsung 950 PRO m.2 NBME SSD, which is booting but takes 2 mins for the bios to recognize it before it starts.

How do I Enable UEFI on my P5K16ET#ABU to upgrade to Windows 10
Hi Everyone.
Yesterday I purchased a new HP ProDesk 490 G3 MT with Windows 7 pre installed. Before loading my own data, I wish to upgrade to Windows 10 straight away. An operating System DVD for Windows 10 came with the computer together with instructions. The first line of the instruction manual reads:
'To take full advantage of Windows 10 features, you must enable UEFI Native Boot mode in the BIOS settings before installing Windows 10'
There the instructions leave you in the lurch, they dont tell you how!!!
The existing BIOS is HP No8 Ver 02.00. 09/09/2015 VERSION 2.7
I am closer to 70 than 60 and not a 'wizz kid' but I can still follow instructions when told what to do!
(I have tried searching for a solution for 6 hours now without sucess. All I seem to red is 'If you get it wrong you can stop your computer from working!')
Can anyone please tell me what I should do?
Many thanks.
Re: How do I Enable UEFI on my P5K16ET#ABU to upgrade to Windows 10
On the following web document there is a BIOS setup simulation.
http://h20574.www2.hp.com/results.htm?SID=7633358&MEID=3F27AD3C-1665-40D4-8768-2ED2F22BEF4A
In the Advanced tab of the BIOS you can configure the Option ROM launch Policy. In the following screen you can set the option ROM to All legacy and then save the change.
Once you do that, your PC probably won't boot into Windows 7. That shouldn't be a problem since your stated goal is to upgrade to Windows 10. Put the Windows 10 installer DVD in the optical drive and start the PC. Immediately after pressing the power button tap the ESc key or the F9 key. Select the DVD as the first boot item. It should boot right into the Windows 10 install environment. Follow the prompts. Windows 10 will install most of the drivers on its own. You can check that by looking into the Device Manager.
You will have to install the options that your PC was configured with on your own. I do not know if you selected a graphics card as an option of are using the onboard CPU graphics. There were also other options you configured when purchasing your desktop PC.
All of the required Windows 10 drivers are at the following HP web page.
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=7633360&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4192
I am curious as to why you didn't just order it with Windows 10 already installed. Upgading to Windows 10 from Windows 7 is not a particulary simple task. The reason is that Windows 7 does not have some of the native options , such as the AHCI storage, already configured and installed.
You can check to see if your desktop PC has a UEFI BIOS by entering the BIOS and checking to see if you can access features by use of the mouse. Please do that.
