Hi Many thanks for your quick reply. Tried a few times but would not boot from CD but found if I opened the CD drawer and closed it just before continuing to boot, it booted ok. Next problem! Started and almost finished 'collecting information' before installing Windows. Error message 'Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software Licence terms. Make sure the installation sources are valid and restart the installation' installation cancelled. Any ideas please? Many thanks

I am so with you it IS nothing but a disaster. I've been working tirelessly now for about 2 months to find the right 'solution' to reverting back to win 7, all to no avail as microsoft wiped out the 'partition' once the 30 days was up. This is the best part- once I figured out I needed professional help I called microsoft, am waiting for the 'recovery' discs to arrive and will need to pay microsoft $100, plus the cost of the disks. As far as I can see this is nothing but a 'money grab' by microsoft. 30 days was definitely not long enough to know if win 10 fit my needs, so again, it's a money grab.

For my hp envy rove i simply had to with one finger hld the screen while using my usb keyboard to input my password. Afterwards, i went to device manager and touchscreen to disable it done in 3min.

If the system is not running as smooth as a top after a factory recovery with no additional software or drivers installed it must be faulty hardware.
Send it back to seller if you are in the return/refund time frame.
You have top shelf components, more than enough ram, and a great graphics card. The PC should be quiet, fast, and a pleasure to use out of the box.

I am sure you can, FIRST thing to consider is Creating Recovery Media for Windows before you touch anything else.
NB:- You may have hidden recovery partitions, and if so they have a VolumeID that is crucial to Windows Recovery and must not be changed at all.
There are lots of Linux versions you could choose to run as Live versions before commiting to an install of any particular distro.
I shrank the Windows partition and created an NTFS area for data, and then a swap, home and root in the space remaining.
So please ask again if you want any further help.

Hi there, does it matter if the rom family ssid is wrong on this bios update?
When i run the file, it extracts to c:\swsetup\sp74319 and nothing happens. I then ran it as administrator and for a brief second it puts some more files in there, then the extra files disappear. The extra files that briefly appear are Gui_a012.exe dated 11/16/15, me.bat, ME111180.BIN dated 10/5/15, and a few others. However they are gone almost instantly and nothing appears to happen. id.log is generated with today's date and contains this "00813"

Need driver old printer new Mac
My old iMac crashed and I'm am having to start fresh with a new onw, now running El Capitan. I need the driver for my CP3505 printer. I can find the link to download a driver upgrade, but my problem is that the original driver is no longer on my hard drive, so there is nothing to upgrade. Is there a way to download a new driver rather than an upgrade?

HP Pavilion Elite HPE ignores power settings after reinstalling using recovery software.
Recently I had to reinstall windows 7 using the HP recovery software that came with it after a failed update prevented the computer from booting up at all.
This went mostly without any problem, however after the recovery had finished, the computer ignored most power settings. To be precise, it ignores all settings except those directly related to sleep mode unless it is set to high performance.
I installed all windows 7 updates and updated all drivers to the latest version without solving this issue.
Does anyone know what could cause this?
The model is HPE 410-nl, the product number is XS319EA#ABH.

Availability of programs after clean install of Win 10
If I upgrade free to Windows 10, I should still have the programs that came installed with my computer. After that, if I do a clean install of Windows 10, is there a way for me to still have those programs available for use on my computer?

If you are buying new I still suggest creating the recovery media in windows, it may be needed later. AND if you sell the device it will enhance the value in future years.
The Wi-Fi is unlikely to work, you may need to apt-get a driver with ethernet first, I had to with Debian and Ubuntu is Debian based.

1. Yes and please remember to select the RIGHT option: keep all users data and programs. Some programs may not work after that but very rare.

I can stream wirelessly perfectly well on a 15 year old laptop and three other (android) tablets. I do not think the issue is with the broadband.
Could someone advise me if this PC is just underpowered and not able to stream video? I have diabled all start up programs, diabled windows defender, disabled HP help centre. But still have 50mb being usedby system host. I am at a loss for what to do next.

I keep getting a message to install/update to this but when I do via the message center, it shows "installing" for more than 4hrs and just hangs up. I tried downloading the .exe file and installing that way, but when I do, it shows "this file being used by another program". SO, does that mean it DID install but for some reason the message center is not showing it?
