I upgraded from windows 7 home to windows 10 . Everything worked for three months. Now my File manager does not work. If I double click on a shortcut nothing happens. No messages or errors, no feedback at all. If I select File explorer from the windows 10 menu it lists recent locations, but if I click on anything once again the window closes and no feedback of any kind. To access my files I have to go though the application file search. I can no longer add folders or improve my organization of files. Obviously it used to work so I suppose it became corrupted. What is being done to fix this, I see this is a common problem looking at the forums for microsoft, but no one has said a suggested fix worked.

A standard HP troubleshooting document of dubious value.
I have tried all of the stuff in that document on Win 10.
The point is: the PC will sleep using Win 8.1 which is the factory installed operating system. But it will not sleep using Win 10.

When I run diagnositics (F2) it only has three options - memory test which it passed, hard disk check which it says smart check and long dst not installed and language.
I'm not sure what else to do.

Hi,
Did you check HDD and motherboard cable connections?
You should be able to test all hardware components using UEFI diagnostics.
Go here and download UEFI diagnostics.
Download the3-1 USB key diagnostics. This option takes a while to download and create the USB boot media. Or use the basic UEFI diagnostics, your choice.
Install on a USB stick. Then boot to the USB stick and run HDD diagnostics.

PLEASE TRY THE BELOW STEPS:
POWER FLEE
1.please turn off the notebook remove all the peripherals connected including the charger .
2.keep the notebook turned off for say about 3-4 min and then switching on the notebook.
If in case above steps do not work,
Turn on the notebook by pressing the power button within 5 seconds continously keep tapping ESC ,once you are at the startup menu - select f11 from the keyboard.
f11 recovery - troubleshoot - recovery manager - i need immediate help - system recovery - without backup

System refresh
I did a system refresh 3 days ago and it took out all of my pre-installed programs. It kept a folder on my desktop of all the programs that were taken out and said that I would have to reinstall them myself. My point is my movie maker, cyberlind burner, microsoft office 10 are all gone. The sites are asking me to pay for them. Is it anyway I can reinstall them from HP?

What is SYSTEM ( Z ) ?
Can anyone tell me why i have a new partition on my PC called System ( Z ) ? Firstly, my PC was bought brand new in March this year and I know for a fact that the said partition has only recently appeared....sometime in April !! The thing is...my PC's fan has been constantly on the go since System ( Z ) appeared...which is making the screen of my PC ( It;s an all-in-one PC ) quite hot to touch.
Also, when I have tried to do a system restore...a BLUE screen comes up, telling me that I cannot do a system restore as there is something wromg with my computer !? What is going on ???? Has anyone come up against any of the issues that I'm havimg ? I really hope there is someone out there that can help me !!!

HP Recovery Manager can be accessd from the Start Menu, or by tapping F11 key immediately after powering on the PC. Recovery Manager is used to reinstall back to factory specs_also used to make Recovery Disk set.

Could be a couple of possibilities, you could need driver updates especially the bios, firmware, or chipset.
As well as there could be a possibility of os being corrupted or needing hardware replacment, in the instance of hardware there could be a issue with the board, processor, or memory best thing that can be done is call into support let them perform trouble shooting on the machine and see if there is a hardware failure or driver updates and then proceed forward from there.

12GB of rams and i can only have 124mb dedicated video ram?
i own a pavillion desktop tower model 750-114 it has 12 GB of rams but the dedicated video ram is 128 MB. Is there any possible way to increase it? I wanna play newer games on the computer. Please help repky ASAP!!

The best way for this to tell is to call in to support @ 800-474-6836 and get a speculation of if their are any upgradable grapghics cards that can be placed into the machine and then see what is available.

You can check to see if you can increase the dedicated video RAM in the systems BIOS. Restart the computer, and hit 'F10' when it is first powering up, I believe you are going to want to look in the Advanced tab, subsection; Built-in Device Options, and look for an option to increase dedicated video memory.
