windows 10 driver for w1907

I upgraded to Windows 10.  My w1907 monitor requires driver support for 1440x900 resolution.  Windows 10 is using the generic display driver for my monitor and it doesn't support 1440x900.  Where can I find a Windows 10 driver that supports 1440x900?

Hi:

It sounds to me that it is your PC's graphics adapter that has the problem, not the monitor.

What is the full model number or product number of your PC?

The product number can be found on the same sticker as the serial number.

How to tell if you need a graphics driver or monitor driver, or both...

Go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters device category.

If you see a Microsoft Basic Display Adapter listed there, you need to install a compatible graphics driver if one exists.

Then look down the list, and find the Monitors device category.  Click to expand that.

You should be seeing a HP w1907 monitor listed there.

If you see a generic P&P monitor listed there, then the monitor needs a driver too.

I have zipped up and attached the Windows 7 driver for your monitor below, which should work on W10 too.

Download and unzip the driver to its folder.  Do not do anything with the files in the folder.

Go to the device manager and click to expand the Monitors device category.

Click on the Generic P&P Monitor.

Click on the driver tab.

Click on Update Driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC.

Thanks for the quick response. The product number is GN561AA.  Windows is indeed currently using the Windows Generic Display Adapter driver.  Do I need a different adapter driver, along with the display driver that you zipped?

Hi:

It doesn't look like HP supports that model for W7.  There is only an audio and BIOS file.

See if these drivers work...

Chipset:  2nd one on the left is the auto install file.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/20775/Intel-Chipset-Device-Software-INF-Update-Utility-?product=1145

USB3:  Download, unzip and run the setup.exe file.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/22824/USB-3-0-Driver-Intel-USB-3-0-eXtensible-Host-Controller-Driver-for-Intel-8-9-100-Series-and-C220-C610-Chipset-Family?product=65855

Ethernet:  3rd driver on the list.

http://www.realtek.com.tw/DOWNLOADS/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=5&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false

Wireless:

This package contains the driver installation package for the Realtek RTL8723BE/RTL8188EE wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

File name: sp72932.exe

Once you are connected to the internet, run the windows update tool and see what other drivers may be found that way.

You're very welcome.

The product specs indicate your PC has the onboard nvidia 6150se graphics adapter.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-a6200-Desktop-PC-series/3548186/model/3548188/document/c01153857/

So, if this is correct, and you didn't add a video card, see if this works...

You do need to install this graphics driver...Now, I am not sure that the auto install is going to work, since this driver is only good for up to windows 8.

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82758/en-us

I recommend you manually install this driver too, using similar instructions I gave you to install the monitor.

This requires an extra step or so.

1st, download and install this free file utility.  The 2nd item on the page is for 64 bit.

http://www.7-zip.org/

After you install 7-zip, download and save, but do not run the above Nvidia graphics driver.

After you download and save the graphics driver, right click on it, and select 7-zip from the menu.

Have 7-zip Extract to: and let it extract the file into its folder name.

Once that is done, go to the device manager and click to expand the Display Adapters device category.

Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.   Click on the Driver tab.

Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.

Then restart the PC and you should have the correct display adapter resolution.

One thing I've just discovered is that although my CPU is 64-bit, Windows 10 installed as 32-bit.

OK, then you would use this graphics driver...

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/82701/en-us

The monitor driver I attached is good for either 32 or 64 bit operating systems.

When you upgrade, W10 upgrades from the previous bit version of the operating system.

W7 32 bit >W10 32 bit, or W7 64 bit>10 64 bit.

You may be able to clean install W10 64 bit but if you are running 4 GB or less system memory, you are better off leaving the 32 bit operating system, as 64 bit operating systems need more memory and hard drive space to run.

Not double, but more.

Belarc is of little help with OEM activations as it only returns what it find in the Registry, and with Win8x PCs, the product key is kept in the UEFI firmware of the motherboard, not in the Registry.

Unfortunately, with OEM PCs, you have two different product keys, one used for installation, and a different one used for activation, and the different utilities have varied success in finding both.

So you have have to try all of these to get a key that works:

Download Windows OEM Product Key Tool 1.0.0.1

Depends on what you mean by "very slow".

IF you mean that launching apps and clicking on things seems to take forever to respond, so long that using the PC is a painful experience, that is nearly always caused by a failing hard drive.

So, to rule that out, please follow the directions in this post:  Testing a Hard Disk from the BIOS | HP® Customer Support

If the hard drive checks out OK, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:  Solved: My Computer is running slow - HP Support Forum - 5599551

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, I found the solution to Terabyte recovery CD on Tomshardware.

With the recovery CD in the PC, the EliteDesk800 boot menu had a EFI option for the CD.

I had chosen a SATA CD/DVD option.

I still have the squash.fs partition.  I do not know why that is there.

I tried deleting it, unsuccessfully.

That may be a good thing, because I am not sure what it is.

You are welcome, .  I am not certain how you got the partition, either.  If you installed Linux that may be the answer.

, welcome to the forum.

This is a peer to peer help forum. The only presence that HP has on it are the Admins and the Mods. Otherwise, none of us works for HP.  Your best option is to contact HP Customer Support for help with your problem.  They will be able to tell you what you can do.  The program seems to believe that you made the Recovery media.

RAM upgrade

$

Recently I decided to upgrade my old HP Pavilion PC Model No: UK p6792UK.

The objective was to increase the RAM from the factory level 4GB up to a max. of 16GB which all of the HP literature states is possible.

Having experienced previous problems on HP Pavilions with increasing the RAM I first checked to find exactly what the system had installed via a software package (SPECCY) and it accurately showed 2 slots being occupied and 4GB as the total RAM (the original spec as bought).

I wanted to increase the RAM to the max i.e. 16GB. I purchased 4 modules of  RAM and devised my installation programme.

First I removed just one of the 2GB RAM modules (slot 3)and put in its place one of the new 4GB RAM modules. The system did not work.

Secondly I removed all the RAM modules and just populated one slot (slot 1) with one new 4GB RAM modules. The system  worked and the system software indicated one slot occupied and showed 4GB. This step showed that the new RAM was compatible with the motherboard.

In the next step I populated two slots (slot 1 & 3) with the new RAM. The system worked and showed 8GB of RAM working OK.

The next step was to populate slots 2 & 4 with the new RAM and test. FAILURE.

The issue is HP states that it is possible to increase the RAM up to 16GB on my PC. However when I do this in a very progressive fashion it fails at the last stage.

Do I need to change some settings in the BIOS or Windows 10 to make this work? If so what exactly.

Hope you can help.

Regards
