I cannot find the option to Order Recovery Media - CD/DVD/USB so does that mean they are no longer available ? See what you find if you would when you check entering the model I have ? HPE-390 t I know in the past when working on someones computer I have ordered these DVD's. This computer is a friend of mine and I can do all the work as I am a computer tech and he knows nothing. Like I mentioned I have a windows 7 home dvd I can load and use his product key. I can then download the drivers from hp.com support page if the recovery option is no longer available. He is age 73 and in bad health so I need to help him if I can. This computer will work for what he does on a PC. He didn't like windows 10 but I think he got confused. I have worked on computers for 17 years so I know my way around them but it would be much better if I could get the recovery DVD's but no big deal if I cannot longer get them. I know he paid around 2 grand for this computer and explaing to him that is now out of date is not going to work thanks again and let me know if you get where the disks can still be ordered. I hate calling HP to find out. Tom

No Image Backup in Windows Recovery on an Old Desktop--Options?
My father's computer (a desktop from 2010, I believe) crashed a while ago and Windows would freeze on the loading screen. At the time, I tried system recovery and that didn't work. I then tried to get help from HP at that point but they didn't provide me with any viable avenues for further troubleshooting. Because my dad mainly uses his computer to run a small online business I successfully installed Linux so at least he'd have a functioning computer, but it's a less than ideal setup for him.
I'd really like to reinstall Windows 7, but I know I can't use the product code that came with the computer to get Windows from Microsoft. I tried to get support from the HP website again, but the computer is too old and no longer serviced by them.
I just tried to recover again and I was able to look at the files on the hard drive through a command prompt and the Image Backup file is missing, which leaves me at a bit of a dead end.
What are my options at this point? Would buying a new copy of Windows 7 be my best bet? Or is the machine old enough that he just needs a new one?
Thanks!

Re: No Image Backup in Windows Recovery on an Old Desktop--Options?
Hi:
The cheapest option to reinstall W7 would be to order a set of W7 recovery disks.
HP no longer sells them, but this non-HP vendor still does. I think they buy up the remaining sets of recovery disks from HP after HP decides to no longer support a certain model series.

I am afraid that Packard Bell is a brand of Acer Inc., which acquired Packard Bell in 2008. This is not connected to HP or Hewlett Packard. May be you could check here >> http://www.packardbell.com/index.html

Re: bad hard drive
Here is a company that several members have used to buy the Recovery media. Give them a try to see what happens. They have had it for computers much older than the one you are working on.
Re: Prodesk 400 G3 BIOS upgrade - machine no longer starts
Thanks for the repsonse - I have tried the method to restore the BIOS but the keyboard doesnt seem to be responsive at all, so no luck unfortunately.
multimedia key not working
hi
Re: BSOD
The file PSINPROT.sys is related to Panda Security/AntiVirus program.
If you are running Panda AntiVirus it may be the cause of your BSOD.

Re: Screen says no operating system found
This message is telling you that your hard drive has failed. Here is a guide to help you troubleshoot it using SMART from the BIOS. You will access the BIOS prior to needing the hard drive.
Please let me know what the test tell you.

Saved my files in 2 external hard drives and then did recovery, came back and recovery error
I saved my files to two external hard drives and then did a recovery. After the recovery ended it said recovery error and no changes to computer. I exited that screen and booted up, but the computer does not go to lock screen. The HP circle logo comes on and goes away but nothing happens.
How can I get to the lock screen? I've tried F11 and Esc.
Re: BSOD
Sometimes a BSOD is a one time occurrence caused by unusual circumstances. If it happens again I would suggest uninstalling Panda and finding another anti-virus program.

Will I void the warranty if I installed SSD as boot drive?
I just bought a desktop Envy 750-103D from the IT fair in Mid-Valley Kuala Lumpur.
I would like to install a SSD as primary drive & assign the 1TB HDD as storage. I was told by the sales representative that I might void the warranty if I do that.
Can anyone confirm if what the sales person said is true?
