I keep getting this error message at boot up, have performed a back up and computer operating ok. do i need to replace hard drive. I have external hard drive I disconnected from the all in one due to another error message indicating windows detected hard disc problem WDC WD5000AAKX-6OU6AAO Volume:C:/D:/
Have HP Desktop, Laptop and DIY on home network and all including appear to be hacked. Including Netgear router. I tried to fix all and each time I reset router it would reboot and entries were set back to hack and then blocked to make changes before i could change password. Same happens to both PC's and laptop. So i can't get system set back up. I have disconnected router and internet and changes have gone to errors:
1) can' find windows system and 2) Cortana and desktop setup can not be found. Am now working on getting personal files copied from hard drives to reinstall Win 7 and upgrade to Win 10. Did not get image of Win 10 so i have to install Win 7 and upgrade.
Just need suggestions on backup. I tried to restore and all restore points were not found. Now it sits after boot and login to windows on a black blank screen and cursor and nothing else. Can only use button to kill machine to exit.

How can serial number and product number be input on HP Support Assistant? They are blank since a 'reset' was performed. How can the support assistant check for updates when it doesn't know what type it is?

Hi, upgraded to windows 10 only to find problems then had disk reformatted and windows 7 Pro reinstaled, I now have the computer start ok but after a message 'setting up your desktop' the screen goes blank with a message that says that the igfxEm.exe can't be found and the computer goes dead. That is to say I can't get into anything at all.
Could someone please assist me in get it to work again.

I am trying to use recovery manager to backup computer but keep getting error 0xe0ef000e. I have tried to backup several times with different file type selections. I tried backing up as follows All Files, All Files except for Pictures, and just Pictures, see the following Recover report. The 2nd choice was successful so do not understand how the destination drive can be the problem. I also ran chkdisk on the C drive but get no errors. There is 377 GB free on the external USB 3.0 drive. Do not understand why I keep getting this error?

after having problems with my computer the shop did a factory restore reverting back to windows 8.1 when I try to reinstall windows 10 get error message 0x1900101-0x40017 how can I get windows 10 back.
Is there any other way of contacting support?
I am still unable to install Windows 7 on this HP PC as it does not recognize any boot media (USB or CD) as valid.
It is definitly not the fault of the Stick or the CD as they worked properly on my non HP PC.

My son has HP Envy 700-515xt it came with Windows 7 and we upgraded to windows 10. I'm not sure what he did or what he deleted but everything he does on the computer now gives him a message that he is missing the system32 dll or shell32.
I've tried to do a restore but he's never set up a previous restore point. I'm not sure if this is a virus but nothing will open on the computer, no scans, completely nothing without giving this error.

Installed Win 10 from the install disk, than downloaded Win 10 updates. !28 Gig hard drive now shows gigantic 14.74 G HP recovery partition. How doI get rid of it ? If I make an external recovery drive, will the system revert to Win 7 after recovery ?
My Pvaillion has been running for some time after upgrade from windows 8 to windows 10. A recent upgrade to a newer release of Windows 10 resulted in a crasch during loading the new Windows 10 SW release.
Now the PC is stuck - showing the circular HP logo.
How can I interrupt the computor to be able to reload the earlier well functioning Windows 10 release.
