, welcome to the forum.

Here is a guide from Sandisk that should help you.  In Step 1, you can simply connect both drives using the system in the video that you provided, instead of, buying the USB to SATA adapter.  Then, follow the remaining steps as stated.  You can find cloning software free on the Internet.  Here is just one of many:

https://www.macrium.com/reflectfree

This is the way that I normally add SSD's to my computer.

Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Hi,

Possible problem areas:

The recovery flash drive might be faulty.  Try a creating a new recovery flash drive . Use a 32 GB flash drive. You need to contact HP Support as the recovery program only allows one copy to be made.

If you have a spare 1-2 TB HD then try the recovery to that HD and see if that works.

The SSD might not be big enough. I would suggest trying 512 GB SSD.

The Sandisk method seems pretty straightforward.  I have no problems understanding the hardware hookups as I have built many PCs back in the day.  I fiddled with countless bios settings as well, however, it's been years so I'm a little rusty.  I think following that guide would have led to a successful outcome.

I tried many combinations of hardware hookups trying to get things to work. One of the first things I did, however, was to go back to the original WD HD and get things working again which worked fine.  I settled on having the SSD plugged into the open SATA port and then just unplugging the WD HD SATA connection while booting off the thumb drive.  Then I went through the boot sequence and instead of following the youtube video I took a different sequence through the restoration menus.  I think the video suggests going to troubleshooting/advanced setup, and instead, I took the Recovery Setup route.  This seemed to work with just the SSD connected. as the SSD got partitioned correctly this time.  I then went into the bios and changed the boot order and now my system boots up lightning fast and I have a 1TB 7200 HD to use as storage.

This seems like a very nice machine for the $399 black friday price I paid for it.  The SSD was $60 so I think this system should last me a while with light game and web use.  I was looking into adding two 8GB sticks of memory but the price is over $150 ouch!! I guess that can wait.

I used a 16GB flash drive and it had 4G to spare after the recovery setup was done.  See my post above for how I got it to work.  The SSD has 210GB of space free and I plan to store photos and videos and lots of other junk on the 1TB 7200rpm HD.  Hopefully, this setup will last me a long time.  I think this is a pretty nice PC.

One other change I made was to plug the thumb drive into the faster USB port, the one with the blue connector.  Not sure if that made a difference but who knows.

How do i keep this from happening again.

HP says my printer is not supported.

My HP Care Pack Service doesn't expire until 2019. I am using windows 7.

The document: http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00452908.pdf

states that USB support for the printer requires Windows 98.

The document also gives information about using Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

So, my guess is that your printer is over ten years old.

HP stops supporting printers after ten years.

When you insert another CD/DVD disk, does the icon reappear?

When you open "Device Manager" in Windows 7, is the CD/DVD device listed?

What happens if you call HP, and state that you currently have Care Pack Service?

Did that copy of Windows 10 ever get "activated", i.e., used with an Internet connection, for an hour or two?

If so, you were granted a "digital entitlement" to reinstall Windows 10, at any time, at no cost to you, onto the same computer.

See: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

to download Windows 10, and write it to an 8GB USB memory-stick.

Boot your computer from that memory-stick.

When asked to enter the 25-character product-key, click "I do not have one".

Windows will finish installing.

When you have an Internet connection, Windows will leverage your entitlement, and activate Windows 10.

Here is my story

I changed whole HDD because of virus & void warranty.

After I changed HDD I tried to use recovery USB which was made by my brother's laptop which is exact same model.

But it gave me message "This recovery USB is not for this computer"

So I just used window 10 USB to install window 10 and my star wars special edition window became plain window.

Everything is ok with my laptop but special features like R2-D2 or COMMAND center ,which were downloaded on hp website, doesn't work and give me msg as follows----"this system is not supported"

Please let me know how to turn this plain window to special edition ................

Windows 10 Upgrade Disables Broadcom Ethernet Adapter

Since the upgrade, the ethernet adapter got disabled.  I can use the Windows troubleshooting wizard to re-enable the adapter with no luck,  the problem doesnt go away no matter how many times i try different drivers from the site and ones already in the PC.  Has anyone else seen this problem and found a solution?

I got this link to see if anyone wants to give it a shot at the Broadcom Website:

Re: Bios update failed - what should I do

For info, my HP support assistant every couple of weeks still wants me to update my BIOS with an older version than the one present (the same package indicated in my first post in this thread), and I ignore it.

Moreover it just suggested I update my Intel HD graphics driver with softpaq sp83890 version 22.20.16.4771. I obediently launched the download and installation, a separate installation wizard opened and started working ... and then it flagged up the fact that I was trying to install 2 drivers that were older versions than the ones already installed and "was I sure I wanted to continue?".  I answered no, and cancelled the installation. Note that I have not updated any drivers on my HP envy all-in-one 27 b111nb except via the HP support assistant.

Question: Why is the HP support assistant proposing updates to drivers and bios older than those it already installed? Presumably  it first scans what is already installed before proposing an update ...

I would be grateful if an official in-house HP software expert would provide an explanation.

Hi

Is the OS a 32 bit system and the driver a 64 bit one?

Hi

And a choice of 2 adapters?

Broadcom NIC
Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit

So can you give us the actual adapter you are trying to match?

Perhaps from Device Manager (EG: BCM54618E) and maybe the best driver can be sourced.

Hi

Clean Install.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Make the USB with the Creator tool, install.

Then you can try your version afterwards.

OR try a command line and copy your version onto the HDD and run from there, it should install quicker than from USB and fail quicker too.

You may need to change the Secure/Legacy boot option, and the boot sequence also. You may need to change the Secure/Legacy boot option, and the boot sequence also.

EliteOne crashes daily and unable to raise a case

The PC crashes almost daily now with error message Driver IRQL not less or equal ipeaklwf.sys

At the last but one crash the system rebooted itself and upgraded its BIOS with no intervention from me.

Took me to all the updates and made sure all were installed, and thought this might be the end. But no, just crashed again with same error.

Tried to contact HP - found they are M-F 8-6 only, so tried to raise a case and it won't let me. I've got a three year warranty and 5 year on site support and the thing is a month old.

Any ideas folks?

Post #3 is not clear exactly what you did.

I have tried 16GB flash drives (empty) and the the HP recovery media creation basically wouldn't recognize the flash drive. Smiley SadI then inserted a 32 GB flash drive and everything worked.

One final note, the HP recovery software can be very finiky with USB flash drives more or less USB2 or USB3. Even when you think that the creation process was successful later you find out that the flash drive will not boot. Smiley Surprised USB-c is a hit and miss technology.  One failed and one worked.

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums After reading your post I see that you are getting Error Message 0x6100006 on your printer. I will be a delight to assist you here.

Superb analysis and brilliant diagnosis of the issue before posting. Smiley Happy  Kudos to you on that score.Smiley Happy

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:

When did this issue start?

Did you do any changes to the printer?

Meanwhile

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Remove and reinstall the cartridges

Step 1: Remove the cartridges

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

  2. Place your fingers into the slot on the left side of the printer, and then pull forward to open the cartridge access door. The carriage should move to the center of the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage is idle before proceeding.

Figure : The slot on the left side of the printer

Image: The slot on the left side of the printer
  3. Press the front of a cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you to remove it from its slot.

       CAUTION:

Do not leave the cartridges outside of the printer for an extended period of time. This can result in damage to both the printer and the cartridges.

    Figure : Remove the cartridges

    Image: Remove the cartridges.
  4. Check the cartridges for damage.

    • If you find a damaged cartridge, obtain a new cartridge, remove it from its packaging, and then continue to the next step. The steps to reinstall the cartridge are the same for installing a new cartridge.

    • If the cartridge is not damaged, continue to the next step to reinstall the cartridges.

Step 2: Reinstall the cartridges

  1. Slide the cartridge into its slot, and then gently push it forward until it clicks into place. Make sure that the colored dot on the cartridge label matches the colored dot on the slot.

Figure : Insert the cartridge into its color-coded slot

Image: Insert the cartridge into its color-coded slot.
  2. Repeat these steps for the other cartridges.

  3. Close the cartridge access door.

You can refer this HP Document for more assistance: https://hp.care/2K5NdZ1

(Note: Though the title of the document is different, these steps should fix the issue)

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
