Sorry to say the restore disks didn't work.:smileymad: I changed my Bios to boot off that CD drive and restarted my computer. The message came up on the black screen, "These System Recovery CDs do NOT support this Compaq pc model, Press any key to continue.” I couldn't believe it. After paying the extra money way back then to be protected just in case and then to get that message about blew me away. That is something you don't want to use unless you have to but if and when you do need them you have good faith that they would work.
I contacted HP and they told me that XP was no longer available and that I should go to a retail store and buy another system! What a waste of my money and lots of time on line and on the phone with HP and Microsoft.
Needless to say I am not a happy camper and who with the same situation would be?
I think I will copy these 6 XP Restore CD's and copies to the poor people that may need a copy. I may at least be able to get my money back?
The Pack Says, " Compaq System Recovery, Windows SP Professional Edition, Disk 1" below reads, "This CD can ONLY be used with a Compaq PC". The English version of the instructions can be scanned on one sheet of normal paper.
