HP Envy Simplepass finger reader won't work

I've recently got the HP Envy with Windows 8. On the first day I set up my emails and apps and not much else and on the second day I thought I'd set up the Simplepass finger reader so I could log onto my laptop account without having to type in my password. This feature was really cool so I started to set up the finger reader to sign me straight into Facebook from the desktop, this worked fine, however I noticed that it always signed me into Internet Explorer. I use Google Chrome for everything, and so I researched on how to get Simplepass to open in Google Chrome and not Internet Explorer. It was really frustraiting and I never found the answer. I tweeked the settings for default browsers and made Google Chrome the default for everything, yet Simplepass would still open with Internet Explorer.

Then out of no where the finger reader stopped working, and won't even recognise when I swipe over it on the Desktop, and the light won't flash when I swipe over it. When I click on the Simplepass Icon located on the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop, it pops up saying "No need to click, simply slide your finger over the sensor to open LaunchSite" I swipe and nother happens.

However, the sensor still works to sign me in from the "choose user" page, I click on my user, and it says swipe finger or type password, I swipe my finger and the light comes on and i sign in.

Also, when I went into the setting for the Biometric Devices, it says the sensor is working fine. I just can't understand why it won't work on the desktop anymore, or won't allow me to open the launch site.

Please can someone give me a hand, I've been researching this for a day not with no solutions!

Thanks,

Maddie
