You're very welcome.

Please read this guide to make a usb flash drive bootable.

http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=197

You have to download and install the HP USB format tool from the applicable link on the webpage.

Use the tool to format and make a usb flash drive bootable.

Then you have to download Windows 98 DOS files from the applicable link on the webpage.

Then you copy and paste the Windows 98 DOS files to the bootable flash drive.

Then you download and run the microcode update from this link.

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/psi/swdDetails/?sp4ts.oid=472278&spf_p.tpst=swdMain&spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253DPSG_I23753_109013%257CswEnvOID%253D1093%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D%257Caction%253DdriverDocument&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

You will now see an instruction page after you run the microcode update.

Under the section labeled  USB Flash Media Micro Code Flashing in DOS, select View Contents of DOS Flash Folder.

Copy all of those files onto your bootable USB flash drive.

So to recap...

1. You have a made the bootable USB flash drive with the HP format tool

2. You have copied the Windows 98 DOS files to the bootable flash drive

3. You have copied the contents of the HP microcode DOS flash folder to the bootable flash drive.

Now you are ready to update the microcode.

Insert the flash drive in a USB port.  Turn on the PC and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to get the one time boot menu.

Select the Boot from USB drive option and hit the enter key and the PC should boot from the flash drive.

Now you have to know some basic DOS commands.

You should be at a command prompt.

At the command prompt, type the command FLASHBIN.exe and hit the enter key.

Then follow the on screen instructions to update the microcode.
