Re: DEAD machine. HP refuses to help

HP shipped no physical CDs or DVDs with this machine.  My BEST GUESS is that the handwritten "1 of 3" CD-R is something that my wife created when prompted to by HP.   There is no factory-stamped disk for Vista (and I would have never purchased that OS retail myself).

I DO have factory-stamped disks of Windows XP, Windows 7 and and Windows 8 upgrade kit from COMPLETELY SEPARATE COMPUTERS/EVENTS -- nothing to do with this HP Touchsmart.   Of the aforementioned OS's.  The Windows 7 is running on another computer right now, so I'm trying to install XP (currently unused)  in the HP Touchsmart in question.  It does not work.  It cannot get past a pretty early step of the install process.

I have a machine which apparently has HD problems except that diagnostics say it doesn't.

It should be able to have an OS installed on it, except that it can't.

Diagnostics tell me to contact HP for help except that they won't (help).
