Are you using Win 7 64 bit operating system? If you have upgraded to Win 8 or Win 8.1 you should not attempt the BIOS update.
Here is an image of the mainboard for an HP p6710f .
Download the correct Bios update and run setup. I would advise you not to use HP Support Assistant for this task.
Here is a link to the BIOS update. The update fixes a system recovery issue. If you are not having a problem using HP's recovery option I would advise not updating the BIOS. A failed update bricks the mainboard. If you decide to continue with the update be aware of the risks involved.
