The hard disk is about to fail. Has your friend created an HP Recovery disk set?
If no, you could run HP's Recovery Manager and create an HP Recovery disk set now or order the disks here.
Save any needed data prior to replacing the hard disk. Cloning the failing drive is also an option using third party software such as Acronis, Paragon, or EaseUS.
