Did you purchase or do you have, or did you create an HP Recovery disk set? Ususally a set of three to five DVD's.
Since your original HDD failed you will need recovery disks to reinstall Win 8.
Checked the HP support page for your system and only see recovery disks available for English/French 64 bit. The USA/Canada version is not available. Also checked Computer Surgeons with no luck.
If you did not create HP recovery disks then it may be best to contact HP support here. Your system should be under warranty if you have the standard two year factory warranty.
