My Pavilion HD died and I had failed to create a recovery disk set. I purchased the recovery disk set from HP, bought a new HD and waited.
I installed the new HD, put in the first recovery disk and it told me it couldn't do a recovery. I called, and learned that the new HD had to match the old one. (not that the web site told me this when I ordered the disks) So, I ordered another HD and waited.
I installed the new-new HD and tried again. Still no joy. I called again, this time I got NO help what-so-ever. The person I talked to couldn't even find a record of my ordering the recovery disks. His understanding of English was marginal, and his speaking was no better. Further, he would leave me holding a silent phone for repeated, extended periods.
One of my major complaints is that the "recovery" software gives no clue what it doesn't like. I checked the HP website, but it can't tell me what the original configuration for my machine was. Do I need to remove EVERYTHING I added? How do I tell?
So, here I sit, with two new hard drives I can't use, a set of recovery disks that don't work, and a useless boat anchor.
I am NOT amused. :manmad:
