Hi,

Here are the original HDD choices and operating system (OS) choices available for your system at time of purchase:

HDD:

       2 x 500 GB drives in RAID 1 (500 GB usable storage capacity), 7200 rpm, SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)

  • 640 GB (2 x 320) 7200 rpm RAID 0, SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
  • 1 TB (2 x 500) 7200 rpm RAID 0, SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
  • 500 GB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
  • 640 GB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
  • 750 GB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
  • 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)
  • 1.5 TB 7200 rpm SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)

    OS:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1
    • Microsoft Windows Vista Business (64-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) with Vista Service Pack 1

What size HDD did you purchase? The HDD should be equal to or greater than the original factory HDD but, there is a two terabyte limitation when using MBR which I believe the HP Recovery disks for your system require. The recovery disks may not be able format and partition the new HDD.

I don't think you should exceed the 1.5 terabyte threshold when purchasing a replacement HDD.

Here is a link to your HP product support site.

Can you enter setup and verify the drive is being recognized in BIOS? Please see instructions here.

    Jaco
