D Drive is now red

I have been reading most of the questions and answers posted on this problem but I am still not sure what to do.   All of them seem to be older posts.   I have windows 7 and the drive for windows recover (d) is showing that I have 897 MB free and it has turned red.  I am not going to delete anything but need to know how you can make more room in that drive.    I am very nervous about messing around.

I have a Pavilion Desktop PC with Windows 7.

I would appreciate any help or would it be better to take it to a computer shop to have them frix it?  Thanks
