restoring hp 751n

I have replaced the hard drive with WD Caviar and the CD writer with a Samsung CD writer.  I have made the Samsung the initial boot drive in the BIOS.  I have a set ot the 6 recovery discs.  I turn the machine on and place the 1st disc in the drive.  I get a "No Emulation" error.  It says press any key to continue .  I Choose Recovery and it states it is loading files on a line at the bottom.  When this line completes to the right, I get a black and white HP Invent logo on the screen and no further instructions.   I turn the machine off and back on and it loads the files  (from the hard drive?) and again gives the HP Invent logo.  How do I proceed?  Thanks.
