This is a rather "hands-on" approach, but it just might work.
There's a freeware program called xxclone that can clone a partition. I recently used it on a Pavilion dv9700, and, less recently on a Pavilion dv9500-ish frankenmanchine (had to replace a bad motherboard and got myself a slight upgrade in the process). The freeware version only clones your c-drive--you have to pay for a version to clone your recovery partition, but that really isn't necessary, because you can simply do a file copy from Windows Explorer and it'll get everything.\
To set up your partitions, there is a button on the xxclone main display that fires up the standard Micro$oft diskmgmt tool. This is fairly easy to use, as long as your system can detect your disk.
When I've cloned hard drives like this, I've had issues with windows activation (luckily, I have multiple letgitimate product keys) and with some programs not having the right privileges--temp files won't get saved, data that's there won't show up, etc. I don't have a solution to that problem yet--I've put out a request for help in these forums.
Nonetheless, this SHOULD work for you to the point where it'll get your OS up and running on your SSD.
Happy battling!
