put disk in my laptop and yes it works, on the desktop the cd/dvd orange light comes on for a few seconds you can hear it run and then you can hear it stop and the light goes off. Also not sure how to ck on BIOS as the only screen I see upon start up is the HP with the F keys to press and then goes directly to the the message of disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter.
