I am running Windows Vista Home premium x64bit OS>server 2008>SP-2.
When I first received the "Hardware diagnostics Tools" error I went to Microsoft Download Center.
Next use "System Update Readiness Tool" for Vista x64 systems, this is used to insure that all security updates are installed
specifically the "cumulative updates and active x Killbits" for Internet Explorer-9 and Vista. Be sure that you have>
(KB2829530)and(KB2820197). The latest update deals with 19#security issues , (KB2838727). These three are particularily
important as they allow remote control of your computer.
Next I ran an SFC scan> to do this...click Start/All Programs/Accessories/Rt.Click Command Promt and run as Administrator./
At the prompt window type> sfc/scannow./Enter./ This tool will locate missing or corrupt files and replace them with the
correct Microsoft files.
Restart in "Safe Mode">or clean boot..
I found that my recycle bin had been corrupted and the system automatically restored it for me.
Next I ran the Microsoft MrFixIt Troubleshooter and it resolved some other smaller related issues.
Run the HP troubleshooter, when complete run a quick scan with your antivirus scanner....
