I understand you state the printer is not communicating with the computer, is that correct? I will try to help you as best I can .
I am not a printer expert but I will try to help you narrow down where the problem is starting.
1. You can try multiple ports to plug the printer in to.
2. You can switch out the printer USB cable for another.
3. You can test the printer out on another computer
These are different tricks you can try to narrow down what is causing the issue.
