Hi, Mike:
Partitioning hard drives and all this new EFI stuff is not my area of expertise.
I know that if you install W7 from scratch it makes that 100 MB EFI boot partition automatically on a new hard drive.
I have never used a cloning program to transfer an OS to a different hard drive.
I always install Windows (no matter what version) from scratch on a blank hard drive. I delete the recovery partition and all other partitions.
I have always been able to use the partitioning and formatting tools in Windows to get me to that state.
Now as far as using a backup program that works with a UEFI BIOS, I have an HP 8200 Elite CMT with a UEFI BIOS, and I use the windows 7 image backup tool to back up my W7 systems.
I actually tested it out on my 8200 and it worked perfectly.
But you do need that windows start up or installation disk to boot from.
You can also make one using the W7 backup program.
I also back up my files without using the imaging program in case the image restore doesn't work.
I know that isn't much help to you, but that is about all I know on the subject.
Paul
