When I had problems with the factory installed HPSA I uninstalled it. I downloaded and tried to install the latest updated version mentioned in your comments and it downloaded ok but I have been unable to get it to install. It starts the install and then says that a version is installed and asks if I want to overwrite it. I had it overwrite and it speeds through the process and then nothing else happens. I checked and the application does not show up as being installed.
When I checked the HPSA site under the "finding and installing HP Support Assistant" section, under the question " can I reinstall HPSA if I have uninstalled the application" the answer stated that "I must be running or have upgraded to Windows 8 Before installing the latest version of HPSA."
