Heres the background info. I came home Mon and turned on my monitor and was greeted with...chose your keyboard language.
Then the option to refresh, restore, repair. All of which cant start becasue the HD is locked...**bleep**
I spent 2 hours on the phone with HP tech support and they say the HD is bad so they are sending me a new HD with W8 preloaded for my PC.
In the mean time I decided to try to install Win7 on the machine on a dfferent HD I had lying around. I diabled the security stuf in the bios and enabled legacy support.
The PC starts up and boots from dvd and win 7 begins install. At the first screen that you pick you language I hit next and "set-Up" begins for about 10 seconds then I get a message that the dvd drive is missing drivers. ???????? The PC sees the drive and it reads the W7 disc.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
My next question is when all bios settings are back to defualt (uefi enabled etc) bios shows the HD as X: .
When I install the new HD from HP will I just have to install it and reboot to start first time use again. Or will I hav eto jump thru hoops to get it to work.
Thanks
Ty
