Re: System Repair Disk Won't Boot

Paul,

On the chance you're pretty savvy based on your posts, maybe you know the answer to this.

Ghost people told me that when I restored my SSD backup to my HDD that is what caused me to have many problems (for starters Windows Installer refuses to work and Ghost says I have no drives in my box). In the meantime my system is booting off that hard drive. Also because I copied the SSD to it, whenever a program, like Excel, goes to save a worksheet or document it saves it to the SSD My Documents folder (Quicken saves to it's folder too on the SSD) because the hard drive programs are configured as they were when they were on the SSD. And I can move stuff to and from the SSD to my USB backup drive or anyplace.

I just can't boot the SSD.

When I look at the HDD and SSD using Disk Management in in the Computer Management module it shows me both drives, and shows that they have a 100 MB EFI partition and each has two other partitions, one the main partition and one a copy of the original HP Recorvery partition. The HDD first partition also shows that it's the boot one.

So everything look perfect. Everything displays fine. Again, I just can't boot off the SSD anymore.

So, can I somehow just correct the MBR and whatever else needs to be done on the SSD and set it to be the boot? I don't mind the HDD still being bootable as that protects me should the SSD ever again fail to boot the BIOS will just go to boot the HDD and I'll still be able to work as I do today until I can fix the problem.

Any idea?

Mike
