@ erico,

I disagree with your statement of "Your All-In-One PC was delivered with four primary partitions already in use. Use the Computer management utility and then click on disk management to see what I mean. You will need a free primary partition to install Windows 7 in a dual-boot configuration."

The poster's HP ENVY 23-d119 TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop Computer came from the factory with Windows 8 64-bit installed, a UEFI compatible BIOS, and the hard drive has a very high likelyhood of being partition as GPT. As the hard drive is most likely GPT, there may already be 4 or 5 partitions on the hard drive. This doesn't matter as GPT doesn't have a 4 primary partition limit as MBR does. Microsoft's implementation of GPT allows for up to 128 primary partitions, therefore shrinking the "C:\Windows 8" partition and installing Windows 7 in the "unallocated space" will work fine.

@ Nedyar,

*****Disclaimer*****

HP doesn't recommend the installation of Windows 7 on a computer shipped with Windows 8, nor will it support the installation of Windows 7. HP will not provide Windows 7 drivers and suitable drivers may not be available for the hardware in the computer. Also, Windows 7 may not support some of the hardware or software features designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your HP Recovery Discs or USB Flash Recovery media before modifying or changing ANYTHING.

Boot into Windows 8 and run the "Disk Management" console. Using "Shrink Volume", reducing the size of the "C:" partition to about half its original size. Name the "C:" partition to something like "Windows 8".

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and maybe ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "BIOS Secure Boot cofiguration" on the settings page shown below before you can attempt to install Windows 7;

Additionally, as the hard drive is partitioned as GPT, you must boot the computer using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" in the "F9" boot menu. If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or something to that effect doesn't exist in the boot menu, please post a screen shot and/or descibe the listed boot options.

Install Windows 7 to the unlabeled partition that was created earlier when you shrunk the "C:" partition. I suggest using a Windows 7 SP1 disc for the best intallation experience. If you need a Windows SP1, please see "How to Install Windows 7 Without the Disc" to download and create your own. If the DVD refuses to boot as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (may require DISABLING "Fast Boot" in the BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive.

Most of the Windows 7 drivers avalable on the HP ENVY 23-1050t All-in-One CTO Desktop PC Drivers & Downloads page or the HP TouchSmart 520-1145t CTO Desktop PC Drivers & Downloads page should work on your computer.

Please post the Windows Device Manager's "Hardware Ids", as shown below, if you continue have issues installing the proper drivers;
