I have a pavilion 23 smart touch all in one. I recently moved, when I plug my pc in I am getting asked for a password for the bios, does anyone know how to bypass this. I have no idea what it could be? HP support was no help. they wanted me to pay for their defect
What media player are you using? Asking because MS recently reported problems with very recent Windows Updates that cause Windows Media Player to crash, now.
IF not using it already, I suggest you try VideoLAN player: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html
Good Luck
Please provide the full model number. And not sure how this is anyone's "defect". Regardless, we may not have the resources of HP Support, but we also have no way to ask for payment and therefore won't be charging you anything.
Thanks for the info. It would not surpriseme at all if that is the issue because it started with that last MS update. I will report back once I install this version. Thanks again.
Sir I have success. Samsung 860 Evo 500gb SSD is working fine in my hp20- 2312in All-In-one desktop pc. Its speed is amazing. Thanks Sir.
So im helping a friend with his first computer upgrade and we are having a problem with the graphics card working. we think it might be the bios are out of date but we arnt sure.
if anyone can give me a link to the bios for a motherboard AAHD2-HY that would be great.
Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
I can't find the PC using the product number you provided.
But you have one of two possible problems.
You are installing a new model graphics card on a Legacy BIOS. This will never succeed.
You are installing a new card on a UEFI BIOS. The card will work but you must modify BIOS settings by disabling Secure boot and enabling Legacy boot. This will solve the problem.
Here is a (Link) to instructions on how to fix the UEFI BIOS problem if this applies to your situation.

This should be the proper answer in 2016. As many users upgraded their Windows box to Win 10 and the other suggestion won't work on UEFI based computers. The other answers seem not working properly on Windows 8 and 10, see more info : https://www.recoverywindowspassword.com/
I don't think the Offine NTpassword is a best way to reset login password .i have never been successful with it, it is too difficult for me, but some tools are easy to use for resetng password ,Google for it .
Bonjour,
Cordialement,
Thanks for returning and letting us know.
I am happy that I was able to assist you with your upgrade.
Enjoy!
Installed RHEL 7.4 from USB including FIPS mode, STIG profile, and SELinux.
I am missing drivers for the following:
Network, Audio, BlueTooth, WiFi, Video, USB-C Thunderbolt Dock
The HP Driver/Download page only has an RPM for the NVidia driver available. Though without the network card(s) working, I cannot install the dependencies required.
Where can I locate and download hardware drivers for this laptop?

Hi
If you could name the adapter(s)/cards you want drivers for.
They may be already included on the RH site, or Fedora perhaps.

When troubleshooting wireless, it's important that your system is fully updated by opening a terminal, CTRL+ALT+T. Using a wired internet connection, please run:
Code:
sudo apt update
sudo apt dist-upgrade
and reboot if necessary.
If the issues persist, it is recommended that you install pastebinit, by running:
Code:
sudo apt install pastebinit
This will enable the wireless script to, upon your approval, upload the obtained data to pastebin, creating at the same time a link to it in your terminal, permitting you to paste it to a forum thread.
Once that's done, download and run the wireless info script, which will gather information to help diagnose your system. You can run it using this command:
Code:
wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info&& \
chmod +x wireless-info && \
./wireless-info
It will create the file "wireless-info.txt" at the location it is run from, and depending on its size, an additional archive called "wireless-info.tar.gz". If you prefer, you can post the file directly to pastebin yourself. Sensitive information like MAC addresses and WPA/WEP keys are masked automatically.
If you aren't able to connect to the internet with the affected system, including via a wired connection, just navigate to this link and follow the instructions there on how to the run wireless script without an internet connection.

Hi When I try to boot my pc using a 32gb usb flash drive it just won’t boot I have gone into the bios and changed secure boot to disable and put legacy mode into enable and this does.not work it still does not show my flash drive anyware can anyone suggest what to do.
Thanks
Greetings,
Welcome to the forum.

What's on the flash drive? Sometimes you have to disable Secure boot and enable Legacy boot to get the USB stick to boot.
Try tapping "ESC" at boot.
Then select the "Boot Menu'.
Select the USB boot device within Legacy or UEFI boot submenus depending on what is on the USB drive.
Your PC should boot to the USB stick.

Hi:
If you are not getting any hard drive failure notices or codes, the only suggestion I can offer, would be to try clean installing W10 as follows...
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool. Make the 64 bit installation media.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, since your PC is not working.
W10 will find the product key in the PC's BIOS, install and will automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.
