Hello, I'm attempting to use System Recovery but not having any luck. I was able to enter System Recovery once by restarting my computer and pressing the F11 key at the appropriate time. However, that same process no longer allows me into System Recovery. Now when I press the F11 key during restart I see the screen shot attached and then approx 2 seconds later Windows loads normally. Greatly appreciate any insight or alternate means for entering System Recovery so I can utilize recovery disks. Thanks!

Initially you should try and make a DVD/USB Recovery Media that is not reliant on your HDD.

Power cord does not connect to computer
Looks like I only received half of a power cord for my computer (Pavillion 460-p214). I have the part that plugs into the wall. Even if I do get the missing power module (ac adapter), I don't know where it would get plugged into the computer. The computer itself has 3 flat prongs. An ac adapter would have to plug into a hole. I don't know what hole it would go in to.

Nominal input voltage range: 200-240V/3A (50-60Hz)
So the cable you have surely plugs into it?

Boot and restore
Hi I have tried to do a system recovery and now nothing is happening just a black screen i did do a backup onto a disc I can get into the bios but not sure what to do from there.any help would be appreciated.

This works for most HP Laptops (and some Desktops)...
To perform a power reset on a laptop with a sealed or non-removable battery:
Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
For most laptops, press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to reset.
To perform a power reset on a laptop with a sealed or non-removable battery:

Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

FN Key for my HP Pavilion 300 Keybord
Hello,
I just aquired a HP Pavilion 300 Keybord and i dont know how to lock / unlock the FN key.
I cannot use the F keys. My last keybord had a F lock button. This one does not.
Any ideas on how to make it work ?

Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
Your PC has an internal 180 watt PSU. HP should have provided a power cable with the standard connection to AC power and the other end of the cable should mate with the connection on the PSU located at the rear of the chassis.
Please send an image of the cable HP provided.

Thanks for the advice but it states the HP Cloud Recovery Tool only works with PCs purchased in 2018. Mine was purchased before then. Also, I've updated drivers/software available...no help there either.

I have updated computer as suggested, updated Google Chrome as someone else suggested - as far as I can tell it does not seem to be doing this on Microsoft Edge. If I refresh screen on Google it clears - does not seem to affect Facebook and Outlook Mail much - worst on sites like BBC.

You have to use Fn button with the matching Fx keys simultaneously as far as I'm concerned.

After pushing power button, press continously F9 to get to boot menu where you can choose the DVD drive.

Hello again. Did as you suggested but it did not resolve the issue, Installed the letest update this morning to no avail.
A small add on Google Chrome at the bottom of the opening page. New! Pixel Slate now in stock crashed when I clicked in it. I didn't know it would open a vid but was going to try a site I am having trouble with, didn't get that far, I am pretty sure at this point it is a Windows issue . I guess I will have to wait for the update fix. I am able to watch Netflix and YouTube .
